| Product Name | G6PD, Recombinant, Human (Glucose-6-Phosphate 1-Dehydrogenase, Zwf) |
| Description | Purity ~95% (SDS-PAGE). Glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase is the rate-limiting enzyme of the pentose phosphate pathway, a metabolic pathway that supplies reducing energy to cells by maintaining the level of NADPH. G6PD converts glucose-6-phosphate into 6-phosphoglucono-delta-lactone and simultaneously produce NADPH. The NADPH in turn maintains the level of glutathione in these cells that helps protect the red blood cells against oxidative damage. G6PD deficiency cause acute hemolytic anemia. Recombinant human G6PD protein, fused to His-tag at N-terminus, was expressed in Hi-5 cells using baculovirus expression system and purified by using conventional chromatography. Source: Recombinant protein corresponding to 515aa and aa1-515 of human expressed in Hi-5 cells, Baculovirus system. Molecular Weight: ~61.4kD Specific Activity: >7units/ml obtained by measuring the increase of NADPH in absorbance at 340nm resulting from the reduction of NAD or NADP. Unit Definition: One unit oxidizes 1.0umole D-glucose-6-phospha |
