| Description | Annexin III (ANXA3), otherwise known as Lipocortin III, is a calcium-dependent phospholipid-binding protein and member of the annexin family, which acts as an inhibitor of phospholipase A2, and is involved in the cleavage of inositol 1,2 cyclic phosphate to form inositol 1 phosphate. Studies have shown that quantification of ANXA3 in patient urine can be used as a novel non-invasive biomarker for prostatic cancer, complementary to prostate specific antigen.
