Transforming Growth Factor-alpha (TGF-alpha) is a polypeptide growth factor which stimulates the proliferation of a wide range or epidermal and epithelial cells. TGF-alpha is produced by monocytes, keratinocytes, and many tissues. TGF-alpha has been shown to play a role in the autocrine growth of certain transformed cells. Human TGF-alpha is a 5.5kD protein containing 50aa residues. Source: Recombinant corresponding to human Transforming Growth Factor alpha expressed in E. coli. Molecular Weight: ~5.5kD Endotoxin: 5x10e6units/mg). The biological activity was determined by measuring the TGF-alpha dose dependent proliferation of mouse BALB/c 3T3 fibroblasts.
