| Description | Tissue inhibitors of metalloproteinases or TIMPs are a family of proteins that regulate the activation and proteolytic activity of the zinc enzymes known as matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs). There are four members of the family, TIMP1, TIMP2, TIMP3, and TIMP4. TIMP2 is a non Nglycosylated protein with a molecular mass of 22kD produced by a wide range of cell types, which inhibits MMPs noncovalently by the formation of binary complexes. TIMP2 also has erythroid potentiating and cell growth promoting activities. Sample Type: Serum and plasma Intended Use: The kit is a sandwich enzyme immunoassay for the in vitro quantitative measurement of TIMP-2 in human serum, plasma; and other biological fluids not being tested.
