| Description | Purification is conducted from broken yeast cells by the following scheme: clarification, microfiltration, ultrafiltration, adsorption chromatography, ion-exchange chromatography, ultracentrifugation and sterile filtration (≥ 98%, SDS-PAGE). Recombinant Hepatitis B Surface Antigen (adw) is a 24kD protein containing 227 amino acids, comprising the full-length of the S-gene. Does not contain a fusion partner. The hepatitis B virus is an important cause of acute and chronic liver disease. It is also the most common form of parenterally transmitted viral hepatitis. The virus is estimated to affect some 350 million people worldwide. Immunization against hepatitis B is an important component of preventative medicine and is offered to all children in approximately 30 countries.
