| Description | Purified by lectin affinity chromatography. NGF is important for the development, differentiation, and survival of variety of neuronal and non-neuronal cells. Its action is mediated by binding two distinct receptors, the high affinity p140 and low affinity p75. Antibodies to NGF receptor may play a role in the identification of benign and malignant soft tissue lesions. The expression of human nerve growth factor (NGF) receptor in tumors and normal tissue was investigated with the use of a monoclonal antibody recently developed against that protein.
