| Description | Tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-a) is a pleiotropic molecule that plays a central role in inflammation, immune system development, apoptosis, and lipid metabolism. TNF-a is also involved in a number of pathological conditions including asthma, Crohn's disease, rheumatoid arthritis, neuropathic pain, obesity, type 2 diabetes, septic shock, autoimmunity, and cancer. Rat TNF-a is synthesized as a 26kD type II transmembrane protein that consists of a 35 amino acid (aa) cytoplasmic domain, a 21aa transmembrane segment, and a 156aa extracellular domain (ECD). Sample Type: Serum and plasma Intended Use: The kit is a sandwich enzyme immunoassay for the in vitro quantitative measurement of TNF-alpha in rat serum, plasma; and other biological fluids not being tested.
