| Description | INHA / Inhibin Alpha Antibody (aa1-24) LS-C11210. Recognizes the human inhibin alpha chain, the product of the INHA gene. The inhibin alpha chain is a 366 amino acid polypeptide with a predicted molecular weight of ~40kD. It is composed of an N-terminal 18 amino acid signal peptide, two pro-peptide regions of 43 and 171 amino acids respectively and the 134 amino acid inhibin alpha chain. Inhibin alpha dimerizes with with inhibin to form Inhibin A or with the inhibin chain to form inhibin B. The active inhibin alpha chain is derived by cleavage of the inhibin alpha chain from the pro-peptide domains and subsequent dimerization through appropriate disulphide bond formation. Inhibins regulate follicle stimulating hormone secretion from the pituitary gland. Inhibin alpha is expressed in the testis and ovary. Inhibin alpha expression has also been noted in the adrenal glands, endomertium and brain. Inhibin alpha expression has also been noted in a variety of neoplastic tissues including Leydig cell tumors, brain tumors, ovarian cancers and adrenal carcinomas. Has been utilized successfully for the immunohistochemical localization of inhibin alpha in benign ovarian tumor. |
