| Description | Highly Purified. Artocarpus integrifolia lectin (Jacalin, AIA) is a glycoprotein composed of two subunits (10kD, 16kD) which bind to O-glycoside-linked oligosaccharides, binding both the mono- and di-sialylated forms. Activity: < 0.5ug/ml will agglutinate neuraminidase treated human erythrocytes. Inhibitory Carbohydrate: alpha-galactose Carbohydrate Specificity: alpha-galactose. Primary affinity for terminal alpha-galactose residues and T-antigen which has a terminal b-galactose residue. It does not bind to beta-galactose structures as found in lactose. |
