| Description | The Caspase-5 Colorimetric BioAssay™ Kit provides a simple and convenient means for assaying the activity of caspase-5 and related caspases that recognize the sequence WEHD. Sample Type: Cell and tissue lysates Intended Use: For use in detecting the early/middle stages of apoptosis and differentiating apoptosis from necrosis. Specificity: Recognizes Caspase-5. Species Crossreactivity: mammalian Test Principle: The assay is based on spectrophotometric detection of the chromophore p-nitroaniline (pNA) after cleavage from the labeled substrate WEHD-pNA. The pNA light emission can be quantified using a spectrophotometer or a microtiter plate reader at 400- or 405 nm. Comparison of the absorbance of pNA from a treated sample with an untreated control allows determination of the fold increase in Caspase-5 activity.
