| Product Name | a2-Macroglobulin, Human (alpha-2-Macroglobulin, A2M, alpha 2M, CPAMD5, FWP007, S863-7) |
| Description | Purity ~95% (SDS-PAGE). Alpha 2-Macroglobulin is a plasma protein mainly synthesized in the liver. It functions as a proteinase inhibitor. It is a tetrameric molecule with a molecular weight of 720kD. It usually occurs in serum at 1000-1500mg/L. Following conformational change, the proteinase is deposited within a central cavity where it is still active, but prevented from further contact with its substrate. Removal of the complex is mediated by the generation of recognition sites which react with receptors on a variety of cells including macrophages and liver cells. |
