| Description | Myeloperoxidase (MPO) is a heme protein synthesized during myeloid differentiation that constitutes the major component of neutrophil azurophilic granules. Produced as a single chain precursor, myeloperoxidase is subsequently cleaved into a light and heavy chain. The mature myeloperoxidase is a tetramer composed of 2 light chains and 2 heavy chains. This enzyme produces hypohalous acids central to the microbicidal activity of netrophils. Sample Type: Serum, plasma, tissue homogenates Intended Use: For the quantitative determination of human myeloperoxidase (MPO) concentrations in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates. Sensitivity: 0.39ng/ml Range: 1.56-100ng/ml Specificity: This assay has high sensitivity and excellent specificity for detection of human MPO. No significant cross-reactivity or interference between human MPO and analogues was observed. Test Principle: This BioAssay™ employs the quantitative sandwich enzyme immunoassay technique.
