| Description | Purity ~95% (SDS-PAGE). TNFa, also known as tumor necrosis factor, binds to TNFRSF1A/TNFR1 and TNFRSF1B/TNFBR. It is mainly secreted by macrophages and can induce cell death of certain tumor cell lines. It is potent pyrogen causing fever by direct action or by stimulation of interleukin-1 secretion and is implicated in the induction of cachexia. Source: Recombinant protein corresponding to aa80-235 from mouse TNFa, was expressed in E. coli. Molecular Weight: ~17.4kD (157aa), confirmed by MALDI-TOF Endotoxin: <1EU/1ug (determined by LAL method) Biological Activity: Measured in a cytotoxicity assay using L929 mouse fibrosarcoma cells in the presence of the metabolic inhibitor actinomycin D.
