| Description | This gene encodes an antagonist of the melanocortin-3 and melanocortin-4 receptor. It appears to regulate hypothalamic control of feeding behavior via melanocortin receptor and/or intracellular calcium regulation, and thus plays a role in weight homeostasis. Mutations in this gene have been associated with late on-set obesity. Sample Type: Serum, plasma, cell culture supernates and urine Intended Use: For the quantitative determination of human agouti related protein (AGRP) concentrations in serum, plasma, cell culture supernates, urine. Sensitivity: 7.8pg/ml Range: 31.25-2000pg/ml Specificity: This assay has high sensitivity and excellent specificity for detection of human AGRP. No significant cross-reactivity or interference between human AGRP and analogues was observed. Test Principle: This BioAssay™ employs the quantitative sandwich enzyme immunoassay technique.
