| Description | Purity ~98% (RP-HPLC, SDS-PAGE). Streptokinase is an extracellular metallo-enzyme produced by beta-haemolytic streptococcus and is used as an effective and cheap clot-dissolving medication in some cases of myocardial infarction (heart attack) and pulmonary embolism. It belongs to a group of medications known as fibrinolytics, and works by activating plasminogen through cleavage to produce plasmin. Source: Recombinant protein corresponding to a non-glycosylated polypeptide chain containing 414aa from Streptokinase, expressed in E. coli. Molecular Weight: ~47kD Biological Activity: One unit will liquefy a standard clot of fibrinogen, plasminogen and thrombin at pH 7.5 at 37°C in 10 min. |
