| Description | Preparation: HSV-1 is propagated in mammalian cells using a protocol optimized for maximum particle yield. At the appropriate time, infected cells are washed in saline then disrupted to release virus particles by freeze thaw and sonication. Purification and presentation: Virus particles released from cells are partially purified by low speed centrifugation to remove cell debris. HSV-1 particles are then purified by sucrose density gradient. This process also includes a DNase step to remove cellular DNA and helps to achieve a high level of purity. Source: HSV, strain 1, from a crude lysate. Applications: Suitable for use in ELISA. |
