| Description | Control Peptide for B2553-12A. BMPs (bone morphogenetic proteins) belong to the TGF-beta superfamily of structurally related signaling proteins. Members of this superfamily are widely represented throughout the animal kingdom and have been implicated in a variety of developmental processes. Proteins of the TGF-beta superfamily are disulfide-linked dimers composed of two 12-15kD polypeptide chains. As implied by their name, BMPs initiate, promote and regulate bone development, growth, remodeling and repair. In vivo studies have shown that BMP-3 can independently induce cartilage formation. The peptide is used for blocking the antibody activity of BMP-3. It usually blocks the antibody activity completely in Western blot analysis by incubating the peptide with equal volume of antibody for 30-60 minutes at 37C.
