By recruiting P-TEFb to TAR;TaT promotes transcription of viral mRNA. This arginine-rich TAT peptide penetrates plasma membrane directly;but not through endocytosis. TaT has similar immunosuppressive effects as transforming growth factor-beta (TGF beta) and both inhibit lymphocyte proliferation. |
