| Description | Purity ≤98% as determined by agar-gel electrophoresis. Albumin is a stable small polypeptide with a strong antigenicity. It has a molecular weight of 69000 and an isoelectric point of 5.7. The protein is isolated from serum by sequential precipitation and further purified by ion exchange chromatography and affinity chromatography. The identity is confirmed and tested by immunoelectrophoresis and radial immuno- diffusion using antisera to total serum proteins and albumin. Applications: Suitable for use as a reference antigen, calibrator, coating protein and blocking agent in a variety of immunoassays including immunodiffusion, immunoelectrophoresis, ELISA, Western Blot, dot-immunobinding assays (DIBA), \Haemagglutination, and cell-binding assays. Other applications have not been tested. |
