| Description | Annexin A9 (ANXA9), otherwise known as ANXA31 and pemphaxin, is a calcium-dependent phospholipid-binding protein and member of the annexin family, expressed by stratified squamous skin epithelium, which may act as a low affinity receptor for acetylcholine. ANXA9 is a target molecule for autoantibodies in patients with the chronic autoimmune skin disease pemphigus vulgaris, characterised by epidermal blisters resulting from the loss of cell-cell adhesion.
