| Description | Purity ~98%. Acute HIV-1 infection presents in the majority of cases as a transient symptomatic flu-like illness, associated with high levels of HIV-1 replication and a virus-specific immune response. It therefore important to make a diagnosis in cases of fever of unknown origin. There are no HIV-1-specific antibodies detectable at this early stage of infection and the diagnosis therefore requires specific laboratory tests for the detection of HIV-1 antigen. This protein binds to murine monoclonal antibodies of defined epitope specificity and HIV-1 converted human serum polyclonal antibodies in ELISA and Western Blot.
