| Description | Furazolidone belongs to nitrofuran drugs, broad spectrum antibiotics and plays an antibacterial activity for gram positive bacteria and gram negative bacteria. With low price and good effect, Furazolidone has been widely used for the prevention and treatment of diarrhea, enteritis, coccidiosis in poultry, livestock, aquatic products as well as black head in turkey. But studies have reported nitrofuran drugs and metabolites with considerable toxicity and side effect including teratogenic and an increased risk of cancer, and should be paid great attention. In July 1990, nitrofuran drugs and metabolites were listed as class A banned drugs according to 2377/90/EEC by the European Union (EU). Furazolidone is not detectable in food-producing animals according to No. 1 of [2002] document of the Ministry of Agriculture of the People's Republic of China.
