| Product Name | Thyroid Iodide Transporter, Rat (TIT) (Control Peptide) |
| Description | Highly purified. A 16aa peptide sequence (designated TIT11-P; control peptide), near the C-terminal, cytoplasmic domain of rat TIT. The 16-aa rat peptide sequence is unique to TIT and no significant sequence is seen with glucose transporter or other Na+-dependent transporters. Iodide (I-) is an essential constituent of thyroid hormones. Thyroid epithelial cells for the biosynthesis of thyroid hormones actively transport it. At the cellular level, Iodide transport is mediated by intrinsic membrane Na+/I+ symporter (NIS). Rat TIT (618 aa; ~66kD) is predicted to contain 12 transmembrane domains. Both N and C-termini are predicted to be cytoplasmic. |
