| Description | Valosin Containing Protein (VCP) BioAssay™ ELISA Kit (Human) is a sandwich enzyme immunoassay for in vitro quantitative measurement of VCP in human tissue homogenates, cell lysates and other biological fluids. Valsolin Containing Protein (VCP) is a member of a family that includes putative ATP-binding proteins involved in vesicle transport and fusion, 26S proteasome function, and assembly of peroxisomes. p97/VCP (valosin containing protein) belongs to the AAA ATPase family, predicted molecular weight 97kD. VCP, as a structural protein, is associated with clathrin, and heat-shock protein Hsc70, to form a complex. VCP has been implicated in a number of cellular events that are regulated during mitosis, including homotypic membrane fusion, spindle pole body function, and ubiquitin-dependent protein degradation. Valosin-containing protein (VCP or p97) belongs to the AAA (ATPase associated activities) family and acts as a molecular chaperone to a wide variety of cellular activities. S |
